Questions Answered
- Why is thread count so important?
Thread count helps determine the quality of the sheet and is simply the
number of threads in one square inch of fabric. Quality sheeting begins at 180 threads per square inch. The higher the thread count, the softer the "hand" or feel of the sheet and the more pill resistant. Look for the word "percale," which means the sheet has a thread count of 180 or higher.
- Should I choose cotton or blend sheets?
It is truly a matter of personal choice. There is no better or worse, no
right or wrong. Cotton is often chosen because it's a natural fabric and feels cooler and softer to the touch. Blends of polyester and cotton are popular because they are more wrinkle-resistant. However, growing interest in natural fibers and cotton sheeting has prompted the application of an "easy care finish" so ironing is not usually necessary if you choose cotton sheets.
- What do I do if my sheets slip off the bed?
If your fitted sheets slip off the bottom of our mattress, you might need deep pocket sheets. Thicker, high contour mattresses are popular, and end pockets on the fitted sheet have to be deeper to fit correctly. Martex fitted sheets that are 100% cotton or 220 thread count or above come with an extra deep pocket. Adding foam pads or boards for back support may require the Martex fitted sheet.
